River Day

Today I crossed the first thing off of my
Summer 2013 to-do list: Go to the river! It was
so relaxing to be able to sit in the sun with a book and
not have to worry about anything. I also got
to spend some time with my brother, (from
another mother), Clay. I'm starting off the summer
by reading The Great Gatsby. I haven't read it before, but
wanted to finish it before seeing the new movie!

Here's the rest of my
Summer Reading List:

The Great Gatsby
The Circle Maker
Life of Pi
Water for Elephants
The Happiness Project

Enlistment

After waiting for nearly two years, Zach
enlisted in the Army on Thursday.
His family and I went to Fort Lee
to watch him enlist, and it wasn't until
we got in the car to go home that it really sunk in.

I'm dating a soldier.

So of course I started tearing up.
He doesn't leave for another two months
but I already know it's going to be hard.
We're so used to seeing and talking to each other
every single day, so months apart without hearing or seeing
each other is going to be awful.
But, I have no doubt that this is going to
be good for the both of us.
I'm just grateful that God made him wait
so patiently for this time to come, because if
he enlisted two, or even one year ago, it wouldn't
of been the same. We needed those two years to
learn and grow and love.
And all of this time apart is
just going to be another growing experience.

Things are changing

My first blog post.
I guess the question is, why start blogging?
Well, things are changing in my life.
BIG things.

Zach is enlisting in the Army on THURSDAY.
Two days from now things are going to be completely different.
The moment he signs that contract he's theirs for 6 years. He'll get his
date for bootcamp, and then training is after that.
Which means weeks and weeks without him here.
After training he'll go away to a base, where ever they want to send him.
Things are no longer going to be normal, and honestly,
I'm going to have a LOT of spare time on my hands.
Hence, blogging :)
